Alanya and Gazipasa are known for their delicious Mediterranean Cuisine which is considered the healthiest in the world. The most distinctive features of the region's cooking are organic virgin olive oil, natural pomegranate sauce and soft cheeses (made of goat, sheep or cow milk) produced by local farmers. Gourmets may also enjoy practically all year round:

  • Fresh locally grown vegetables, fruit and berries (egg plants, cucumbers, tomatoes, oranges, mangos, avakados, kiwis, bananas, melon, watermelons, apples, pears, peaches, grapes, strawberries, cherries and all sorts of beans, peas, nuts and dried fruit

  • Fresh fish and seafood (including jumbo shrimps, calamari, crabs and lobsters) right from the fishermen

  • Fresh lamb, veal, chicken, turkey and quails from local "kasap" stores (butchers)

  • Freshly squeezed juices from vitamin kiosks resembling huge oranges

  • Herbs and aromatic spices such as kekik (mayoran), saffron, chilli pepers, kardamon, turmeric (kurkuma) and what not

  • Fresh Turkish delights such as lokum, baklava, halva, tulumba with Turkish tea or coffee

Gazipasa – is a paradise for lovers of organic food, as 95% of all products come from local farms located in the mountains. You should visit its Friday’s Farmers market to get a unique taste of the local cuisine.
